Rest.  In the last 5 years, many articles show an alarmingly serious association of sleep deprivation and obesity.   This year more literature addresses the need for consistent sleep patterns and the prevalence of children’s obesity.

 

This is the reason third shift workers are often overweight-they are usually sleep deprived. 
 

Unfortunately, once your weight starts obstructing your neck or airway, a condition called OSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA develops.

This apnea (stopped breathing) then causes life-threatening heart rhythm changes and potential strokes and heart attacks. A study recently showed that 85% of people with sleep apnea are obese- so lose the weight, and see us or other sleep doctors if you have excessive daytime sleepiness, snoring, gasping while sleeping, or witnessed apneas.

Make changes, and try things that may really work for you...the progress buddy, that we refer to may soon become a best friend, and hopefully another life partner, because in those who have weight issues, it's best to admit that "going it alone" has failed for years and everything we suggest comes from  very common sense solutions to a problem that can literally "kill you".

 RESOLVE is part of the motivation to both start any consistent weight loss program and more importantly, to continue the program as part of a lifetime of a slimmer, healthier you long after you have lost your weight.

 

Moderation must be mentioned - Like most mamas say, everything in moderation. Studies show that starvation diets in the long-run will lead to rebound obesity, greater than prior to the diet.
Extreme measures, such as long-term diet pills (amphetamines),  enemas, and minimal-calorie- meal-replacement plans taken alone, are again, in the long-run, harmful. Consequently, we stress moderation and an understanding of the entire “slimmer success” program for permanent results and a healthier future.

 

 Most of our patients love the immediate 10 or greater pound
first 2-week results. Please try to resist the same immediate gratification that you’re accustomed to with giant meals. “Slow and steady wins the race”. Though no one has been lost to the program for too much enthusiasm, 3-4 pounds a month is 36-48 pounds a year.
